Art high school from Slobozia, Romania teamed with the Italian school on the etwinning platform and we worked on different interesting topics about the culture of the two countries.
Here is some information about the Italian town. Liguria is an Italian region located in the northern part of the state. It consists of four provinces: Imperia, La Spezia ,Savona and Genoa. It has a mild climate due to the proximity of the sea:
In winter the temperature is about 5 degrees and in summer, it is around 25 degrees.
The spoken language is Italian, although there are many immigrants.
The main religion is catholic. The Ligurian economy is historically based on fishing and maritime activities.
The most popular products of the land are olives and basil.
Basil is the main ingredient for our typical sauce called “Pesto”.
In many parts of the region there are many vineyards from which we get an excellent white wine.
The coast of Imperia is world known as “Riviera dei fiori” for its production of flowers and ornamental plants.

The legend of the March Amulets
Once upon a time, at the edge of a village, there lived a poor woman with her daughter in a meager hut. The woman earned her living by spinning wool for people in the village. Unfortunately every money she would have, she gave it to the doctors because her daughter was very ill.
One day, as she was spinning and crying because of her sick girl, a carriage of fire passed by her. It stopped and the Spring Queen appeared in front of her. She told her about her daughter and the Queen said:
“Take this fire flax and spin it until it gets thinner and thinner and then make a bow and put it on your daughter’s chest. She will be as fresh as the nature which changes once I appear.”
The woman thanked her and she started following her instructions but the fire burnt her fingers and she could spin the flax. Just then another carriage appeared. It was the Winter Queen leaving the village. When she heard the woman’s story she said:
Take this snow flax. Its coolness will stop the heat of the fire flax and you will be able to make a thread. Turn them together and maybe in this way I can be of help.”
She thanked the Queen and started to mix the two flaxes. She mixed white and red and she could make a bow which she later put on her daughter’s chest. The girl woke up and started to feel better, having red cheeks and a beautiful smile on her face.
Ever since then, at the beginning of each spring, the woman would spin the two faxes and would make red and white threads. She would give those to people for them to be HEALTHY and HAPPY.

Nadia Elena Comăneci is a Romanian gymnast, winner of three Olympic gold medals at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the first female gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastic event. She is also the winner of two gold medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. She is one of the best-known gymnasts in the world. In 2000 Comăneci was named as one of the athletes of the century by the Laureus World Sports Academy.
