Title: What do they do every week?

Type: review

Aims: by the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

  • answer correctly to questions about given pictures
  • identify true and false statements from given sentences
  • fill in blanks with the correct forms of Present Simple Tense (negative and interrogative)
  • use the blog Our English Class in order to fulfill given tasks

Strategies:

  • methods: explanation, exercise, demonstration, conversation
  • means: computers, video projector, power-point presentations, prezi presentation, the blog of the class, worksheets

STAGES:

Activity 1

Checking the homework (7 min)

Students had different pieces of homework which they posted on the blog of the class. I ask some of them to give some examples.

  • Describing a picture using there is and there are

Diana’s answers: There is a doll on the bed. There is a doll on the chair. There are three pens on the table. There is a pencil on the chair.

  • Writing sentences with can and can’t

Maria’s answers: They can write. I can paint. We can’t roller-skate. I can’t play football.

  • Writing a poem with given words

Oana’s answer: I like ice-cream/ I like games/ I like puppies/ But there’s something I don’t like/ I don’t like basketball

  • Activities and days of the week

Adrian’s examples: On Monday, I paint. On Tuesday, I don’t run. On Wednesday, I don’t sing. On Thursday, I write.

Activity 2

Working with Prezi (5min)

I ask them to name different activities in English and then I ask them to pay attention to the presentation and answer the given questions for each picture. After they answer, I click on the next slide for them to check their answers.

Activity 3 (15 min)

Working with the blog

Students log in on kidblog.org/ourenglishclass-2 using their usernames and passwords. I give them a worksheet on which they have to decide if the sentences about different colleagues are true or false.

Activity 4(15min)

Power point presentation A

Students open the first power point I ask them to. They have to fill in with the correct negative forms: don’t or doesn’t.

When they finish, I give them a worksheet in which they have to fill the correct forms they reviewed before.

I ask students to find on the blog someone who:

  •  Listens to music
  • Visits a museum
  • Walks in the park
  • Rides the bike
  • Plays tennis
  • Sings
  • Plays the piano
  • Draws
  • Watches TV
  • Goes shopping

They will finish the exercise at home.

Activity 6 (2min)

Evaluation

I evaluate my students’ answers and I encourage them to participate further.

TOM’S FATHER

Tom’s father is a bus driver and he wakes up very early in the morning. He starts work at 4 a.m. He drives a new modern bus. He likes to listen to music while he drives.

He comes back home at 2 p.m. He has lunch and then he reads the newspaper.

He always helps Tom with his homework. He likes Art and he helps Tom learn how to paint.

On Sundays they go fishing. Tom always catches big fish. His father likes cooking the fish
